Children with Cancer UK: a ball, and a fight we are proud to support

Last month the team were excited to attend the annual ball hosted by the charity Children with Cancer UK.

As a company, we are proud to offer worthwhile charities all the support we can. Children with Cancer UK is the leading national children’s charity dedicated to the fight against all forms of children’s cancer. It has raised an astonishing £150 million since it was founded in 1988. We have been privileged to work with Children with Cancer UK since the beginning of 2013, when we decided to donate to the charity all the Sunday tickets from our corporate Wembley membership. The charity could either give the tickets to a family battling with cancer, or auction them off to raise funds. The first set of tickets was given to the family of twelve-year-old cancer survivor Kalem: as a football fanatic he was thrilled to spend the day at Wembley.

‘For me’, says Darren Evans, ‘this is the best part – when you can give a bit of light and happiness to a family that have found life tough.’

At the ball we were able to donate FA Cup Semi-Final and Capitol One Cup Final tickets to the auction. This combined with the team’s other fundraising efforts came to a total of £3000! A spokesperson from Children with Cancer UK said of the evening, ‘With the help of our wonderfully generous guests, our annual fundraising ball raised over £460,000 to help children with cancer. Thank you to everyone who contributed to this astounding achievement!’

The ball was spectacular: the headline act was Madness, and there was lots of other entertainment. We greatly enjoyed ourselves and were glad to be there – but most of all we are grateful for the opportunity to be involved in such a vital and life-changing cause.
